For a time last year, it looked as though the long-rumoured Obi-Wan Kenobi Star Wars spinoff movie was about to become a reality, with a director on board in Stephen Daldry (Billy Elliot) and rumours abound that production would get underway this spring.
Unfortunately for fans of Ewan McGregor’s Jedi Master, the box office failure of Solo: A Star Wars Story threw Disney and Lucasfilm’s Star Wars plans into disarray, with the studios opting to reflect and reassess their handling of the saga.
Back in June of last year, unconfirmed reports were circulating suggesting that the Obi-Wan movie was now being eyed as an exclusive for Disney+, the Mouse House’s upcoming streaming service, and now Star Wars News Net is claiming that the project has been retooled into a live-action TV series.
According to the site, the Obi-Wan series could span as many as six episodes, with Ewan McGregor on board to reprise his role, and it is said to be viewed as a priority for Disney+, which already has The Mandalorian and the Cassian Andor Rogue One: A Star Wars Story spinoff show in the works.

Now, we should stress that this is just a rumour at present, but given the popularity of McGregor’s Obi-Wan, a live-action series would surely prove to be a major selling point for Disney+.
