We already knew that he was writing the screenplay, but now it is official that John Krasinski will be back in the director’s chair for the sequel to the smash hit horror A Quiet Place, while Emily Blunt and young actors Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe are closing their deals to return as the Abbott family.
Although Krasinki’s position as director was said to be an open secret around Hollywood, it had not been clear whether or not the cast would return, as Krasinksi had been teasing that it the sequel would go in a completely different direction, exploring the movie’s world from another perspective entirely.
According to THR, Krasinski and producers Andrew Form, Brad Fuller and Michael Bay had been considering two options for the sequel – one that would have taken things down a brand new path, and the other continuing to explore the tale of Blunt’s Evelyn and her children. They’ve obviously opted for the latter.
A Quiet Place was one of the big surprise hits of last year, grossing $340 million worldwide from a budget of just $17 million. The sequel is set to arrive in cinemas on May 15th, 2020.
