A couple of weeks ago Mads Mikkelsen suggested that his character in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story would play a crucial role, and that – surpringsly – he won’t be a villain. Well, it seems the Hannibal star may now have revealed his character name, thanks to an autograph signing at Fan Expo in Canada…

As you can see from the above image, Mikkelsen has signed the poster ‘Galen’, which doesn’t mean much in itself, if it weren’t for the fact that: a) Phil LaMarr hadn’t included Kit Fisto – his character in Star Wars: The Clone Wars – in his own signature; and b) that Galen is a name we already associate with the galaxy far, far away thanks to the video game Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, which centred on Galen Marek, a.k.a. Starkiller, a secret apprentice of Darth Vader who becomes integral to the formation of the Rebellion.
Now, it seems unlikely that Mikkelsen is playing Galen Marek, given that director Gareth Edwards has suggested we’ll be steering clear of Jedi and other Force users in Rogue One, so if this does turn out to be his character’s name perhaps it’s just a little nod to the fans?
