Kevin Feige, the head of Marvel Studios, has said that the company has been focusing on other projects instead of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
With James Gunn’s sudden dismissal from Marvel and the delay of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, it makes sense for Marvel to have put their attention elsewhere for the time being. Especially with Captain Marvel, Avengers: Endgame, and Spider-Man: Far From Home on the horizon.
And this has been confirmed by Kevin Feige when the Marvel boss spoke to Collider in a recent interview, telling them that Guardians Vol. 3 hasn’t been the biggest priority for them of late:
“I mean, when it was pushed back, it was pushed back. Meaning the release date, because it’s not coming out—although we’ve never announced a release date actually, but it was gonna happen sooner rather than later, initially of course. Outside of knowing that we’re gonna use [James Gunn’s] draft, [we have] been focusing on other projects.”

Marvel will inevitably get to Guardians in the near future but it’s not like the studio doesn’t have myriad other high profile properties at their disposal. We will have to wait and see what the future holds for the third instalment of the trilogy.
