Mark Hamill thinks that Disney’s Star Wars movies have been released too quickly

March 5, 2019 by Samuel Brace

Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill, thinks that recent Star Wars movies have been released too quickly.

Ever since Solo: A Star Wars Story released just five months after Star Wars: The Last Jedi, there has been much discussion around if Disney is releasing Star Wars movies too often. After the performance of Solo, this is also a realisation that Disney themselves quickly came to, confirming that things would be slowing down going forward.

Mark Hamill seems to agree with his employers on the subject and apparently was telling them this might be an issue before Solo arrived. Speaking to Den of Geek, the actor said;

“In our day, it was three years apart. Now they’re two years apart, with a [spinoff] movie in between. I say to the executives at Disney, ‘Really? Han Solo five months after our movie? Give it a rest!’ They say, ‘Well, we have to keep the schedule clear for Mary Poppins.’ But I can be mouthy, because you know, what are they gonna do, fire me?”

As mentioned, Disney and Lucasfilm have made moves to rectify the situation. The spinoff movies seem to have been axed and by the time Episode IX releases this December, it will have been a year and a half since the last Star Wars film.
