The Survival Mode Beta for Fallout 76 is ready and available to play on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. This brand new mode breathes more life in to the game by providing a much more competitive way to play with less PvP restrictions and changes to death and respawn mechanics.
Upon selecting to play from the main menu players will now be able to choose between Adventure Mode or the new Survival Beta. The Adventure mode is just like the Fallout 76 we’re all familiar with with the exception of all damage dealt by other non-hostile players is reduced to zero. Survival, on the other hand, is a different kettle of fish, expect damage to be dealt by everyone.
With the new Survival mode, players can still take on quests, enjoy events and explore just like Adventure mode, however, there’s also the chance of becoming another player’s prey. On death, players will drop all their junk as well as a random amount of aid items that they had on them, all this becomes available to grab by the hunter. Both cap rewards and cap deductions on death have been doubled providing more incentive to kill.
Changes have also been made to fast travelling and respawn locations. Respawn has been limited to Vault 76, the player’s C.A.M.P. and Train Stations while fast travelling is limited to these and any Workshops owned by the player. After both fast travelling and respawning, players will enjoy a brief period of invulnerability although firing weapons will remove that protection.
Finally, new weekly challenges have been added which will offer legendary rewards upon completion with the first six of these awarding legendary weapons.
