Leonardo DiCaprio to star in Guillermo del Toro’s Nightmare Alley

April 26, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Back in December 2017 it was announced that Guillermo del Toro is set to direct an adaptation of William Lindsay Gresham’s novel Nightmare Alley, and now it seems the Oscar-winning filmmaker may have found an Oscar-winning actor as his lead.

According to Variety, Leonardo DiCaprio is in talks to star in the movie, which was previously adapted for the big screen back in 1947 and follows an ambitious conman who teams up with a corrupt female psychiatrist to fleece people with their mentalist act, only for his partner to then turn the tables on him.

Nightmare Alley will mark del Toro’s first film since the Oscar-winning The Shape of Water, and is slated to begin shooting in the fall. DiCaprio meanwhile will next be seen on screen this July in Quentin Tarantino’s new film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
