Deadline is reporting that Shane Carruth has lined up his third feature film, and his first big-budget movie, with the site reporting that he’s set to direct the nautical action adventure The Modern Ocean.
Carruth made his debut in 2004 with the rather excellent Primer, a $7000-budgeted time-travel sci-fi drama which received the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance. He followed it up in 2013 with another low-budget sci-fi drama, Upstream Color.
Plot details on The Modern Ocean are being kept tightly under wraps, although it’s said that the project is based on international shipping and the lives of those involved.
