Get ready for an ’80s themed summer on Rocket League as Psyonix announce the start of the Radical Summer event on the 10th June. This new ‘80s themed in-game event will take place over nine weeks and celebrates iconic movies, television and culture of that decade with the addition of limited-time game modes, new items, and two Premium DLC car packs: Ghostbusters and Knight Rider.
There will be three sections to the Radical Summer event, these are:
- 80s Blockbusters – runs from 10th June to 1st July. Franchises featured during this celebration are Back to the Future, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, The Goonies and Karate Kid and kicks off with Ghostbusters and the limited time game mode, Ghost Hunt. This game mode will be a 3v3 game that sees players fire a proton stream to capture the ball and carry it to the opposing team’s Containment Zone to score.
- 80s Culture – from 1st July to 22nd July. This celebration starts with the action packed Spike Rush Game Mode and is a 3v3 mode where each player has the Spike power-up from Rumble Mode. There will also be a selection of themed in-game items available in the event store.
- 80s Television – runs from 22nd July to 12th August. The final celebration will have players in the 2v2 limited time Beach Ball game mode, inspired by volleyball, this mode will have a larger ball, low ball gravity and Curveball mutator activated.
The Ghostbusters car pack will include Ecto-1 Battle-Car, Ecto-1 Wheels, Proton Pack Boost, Slimer Topper, Ghostbusters Player Banner, Ghostbusters Avatar Border, and the Stay Puft Goal Explosion and the Knight Rider Car Pack will feature K.I.T.T., the talking futuristic car equipped with high-tech gadgets and personality of its own from the hit ‘80s show, alongside Knight Rider themed items.
