Stranger Things season 3 has already broken Netflix records

The third season of Stranger Things appears to be quite successful for Netflix, with the streaming service reporting huge numbers and broken records.

Stranger Things is certainly one of the biggest shows around and the anticipation for the third season has equated into significant ratings for streaming giant Netflix.

Taking to Twitter to celebrate the success of the new the season, Netflix listed some of the impressive numbers associated with this latest installment of episodes:

“.@Stranger_Things 3 is breaking Netflix records! 40.7 million household accounts have been watching the show since its July 4 global launch — more than any other film or series in its first four days. And 18.2 million have already finished the entire season.”

And with Netflix confirming that a view isn’t counted unless the account watched more than 70 percent of the total running time, it’s fair to say that people have been enjoying the show!

It’s 1985 in Hawkins, Indiana, and summer’s heating up. School’s out, there’s a brand new mall in town, and the Hawkins crew are on the cusp of adulthood. Romance blossoms and complicates the group’s dynamic, and they’ll have to figure out how to grow up without growing apart. Meanwhile, danger looms. When the town’s threatened by enemies old and new, Eleven and her friends are reminded that evil never ends; it evolves. Now they’ll have to band together to survive, and remember that friendship is always stronger than fear.

The third season of Stranger Things sees the return of cast members Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Charlie Heaton, Natalia Dyer, Joe Keery, Cara Buono, Dacre Montgomery, Sadie Sink and Priah Ferguson, while new additions include Francesca Reale, Maya Hawke, Cary Elwes and Jake Busey.
