Marvel Television boss Jeph Loeb has stated that the studio felt “blindsided” by Netflix’s decision to cancel their library of Marvel television shows The Defenders, Jessica Jones, Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Punisher.
“The hardest part was while the situation at Netflix of which I really can’t go into other than to say that we were blindsided and the things that were to come weren’t finished yet,” Loeb told Deadline during an interview. “We weren’t ready to announce that, so there was this space in between it, so it did look like maybe we were going to go out. Then suddenly, we were arising again like the Phoenix.”
While the prospect of any of the Netflix shows being revived appears remote at this point in time, Marvel Television has since announced a number of new shows for the Disney-owned Hulu, including an Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. spin-off show focusing on Gabriel Luna’s Ghost Rider and a slate of four animated shows building to a crossover entitled The Offenders and featuring Howard the Duck, M.O.D.O.K., Hit-Monkey and Tigra & Dazzler..
