According to a recent report, Disney isn’t too impressed with some of their Fox acquisitions such as the X-Men spinoff The New Mutants.
Along with all the yet to be developed properties and Marvel characters that Disney purchased from Fox, the Mouse House also acquired already produced films like New Mutants. Unfortunately for Disney, they don’t seem to be impressed with what they have seen.
A recent report in Variety states: “Disney is optimistic that handing Fox superhero properties such as Fantastic Four and X-Men to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige will improve the quality of these movies, but bumps must be smoothed over in that transition. The studio is unimpressed with New Mutants, an X-Men spinoff with a haunted-house vibe, and believes it has limited box office potential.”

It will be interesting to see exactly what happens with The New Mutants – especially after X-Men: Dark Phoenix tanked at the box office, causing Disney to fall short of its projected quarter earnings. The spinoff was recently pushed back – yet again – to April 2020, and it has long been rumoured that Disney could pull the plug on a theatrical release and dump the movie directly onto Hulu or Disney+.
