Deadline is reporting that Tracy Morgan (The Last OG) and R&B star Rotimi (Power) have been cast in Paramount Pictures’ Coming 2 America, the sequel to the 1988 comedy classic Coming to America.
The film is being directed by Craig Brewer (Hustle & Flow) and sees the return of Eddie Murphy (Prince Akeem), Arsenio Hall (Semmi), James Earl Jones (King Jaffe Joffer), Paul Bates (Oha) and John Amos (Cleo McDowell).
Other newcomers to the cast include Wesley Snipes (Blade), Rick Ross (Uncle Drew), Jermaine Fowler (Sorry to Bother You), Leslie Jones (Ghostbusters), and KiKi Layne (If Beale Street Could Talk).
In Coming 2 America, “Akeem is set to become King of Zamunda but discovers he has a son he never knew about in America – a street-savvy Queens native named Lavelle. Honoring his father’s dying wish to groom this son as the crowned prince, Akeem and Semmi set off to America to meet the unlikely heir.”
Coming 2 America is set for release on December 18th 2020.
