Alfonso Gomez-Rejon departs Collateral Beauty over creative differences

October 6, 2015 by Scott J. Davis

Acclaimed director Alfonso Gomez-Rejon has reportedly left New Line Cinema’s upcoming film Collateral Beauty, reports Deadline.

Gomez-Rejon, who this year had huge acclaim with Sundance favourite Me and Girl and the Dying Girl, cited creative differences for his reason to leave the project, for which New Line had bought the worldwide rights to only a few months ago.

The film has already had somewhat of a coloured history already, with original stars Hugh Jackman (X-Men: Days of Future Past) and Rooney Mara (Her) leaving the project during its pre-production. Will Smith (Focus) is now on-board the film with his production company, Overbrook Entertainment co-producing with Anonymous Content, among others.

Collateral Beauty stars Smith as “as a New York advertising executive who experiences a personal tragedy and the subsequent unconventional plan from his colleagues to break him out of his depression.”
