Justin Timberlake has signed on for the lead role in Palmer, a new drama from actor and director Fisher Stevens (Before the Flood) and producer Charles B. Wessler (Green Book).
According to Deadline, the film will see Timberlake starring as Eddie Palmer, ” a former college football phenomenon who, after a stint in prison, returns to his hometown to get his life back on track. There, he faces not only lingering conflicts from his past but also a much more surprising challenge as he finds himself suddenly in charge of a unique young boy who has been abandoned by his wayward mother.”
“Justin and Fisher bring a resonant perspective to this emotional story,” said John Penotti and Charlie Corwin of SK Global, who are producing alongside Wessler. “It is both timely and ultimately a hopeful, entertaining story about the resilience and power of human kindness.”
Timberlake was last seen on the big screen in Woody Allen’s Wonder Wheel in 2017, and reprises his voice role as Branch for next year’s animated sequel Trolls World Tour.
