Having flirted with Oscar recognition last year thanks to a Best Picture nomination for Black Panther, Disney and Marvel have now launched their For Your Consideration campaign for Avengers: Endgame at the 92nd Academy Awards.
As you can see below, the studios are pushing the likes of producer Kevin Feige (Best Picture), Anthony and Joe Russo (Best Director) and Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely (Best Adapted Screenplay), along with a number of technical categories ranging from Best Cinematography to Best Visual Effects.
There is however no room for any of the acting talent – including Robert Downey Jr., who co-director Joe Russo had lobbied hard for last month, describing his Endgame role as Tony Star as a “profound performance”.
Do you think Avengers: Endgame has any chance at the Oscars? Was Downey’s performance worthy of a push from Disney and Marvel? Let us know your thoughts in the comments or on our social channels @flickeringmyth…
