Having pulled in a four-day Columbus Day opening of $35 million at the domestic box office, MGM and United Artists have announced that plans are already afoot for a sequel to The Addams Family animated movie.
Featuring an all-star voice cast that includes Oscar Isaac, Charlize Theron, Chloë Grace Moretz, and Finn Wolfhard, The Addams Family was backed by a bumper $150 million promotional partner campaign, the largest for any MGM release outside of the James Bond franchise.
The Addams Family is expected to fare well in its second weekend despite competition from Disney’s Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, and with its international release still to come it looks like Gomez, Morticia and company are going to deliver strong returns on the film’s modest $40 million budget.

If that’s not bad enough, Wednesday has to go to public school for the first time, and Pugsley has to prepare for a big performance that the extended Addams family from across the globe will be coming to judge. What could possibly go wrong?
