Todd McFarlane’s history making Spawn became the longest-running creator-owned comic book in history with the release of last month’s Spawn #300, and it also fended off competition from the likes of J.J. Abrams’ Spider-Man, House of X, Powers of X and Doomsday Clock to lead the bestselling comic books of September 2019. DC Comics topped the graphic novel chart with its hardcover release of Batman: Damned, but Marvel remained the biggest publisher of the month in terms of revenue generated and units shipped.
