Back in September it was reported that Jeffrey Wright was in talks with Warner Bros. and DC Films about taking on the role of Gotham Police Commissioner James Gordon in The Batman, and now director Matt Reeves has taken to Twitter to confirm the Westworld star’s casting.

After a long development process, which included the exit of Ben Affleck both from the director’s chair and the title role, The Batman is now finally starting to take shape, with Wright joining a cast that includes Robert Pattinson (The Lighthouse) as The Dark Knight, Zoe Kravitz (Big Little Lies) as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, and Paul Dano (Escape at Dannemora) as Edward Nygma/The Riddler.
The roles of Alfred Pennyworth and Oswald Cobbleplot/The Penguin remain uncast at this point, while rumours have also suggested that the likes of Firefly, The Mad Hatter and Two-Face are set to make appearances in supporting roles.
