Jodie Foster, Shailene Woodley and Tahar Rahim join Benedict Cumberbatch in Prisoner 760

November 4, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Jodie Foster (Hotel Artemis), Shailene Woodley (Big Little Lies) and Tahar Rahim (A Prophet) have joined Benedict Cumberbatch in director Kevin Macdonald’s (Black Sea) new film Prisoner 760.

Based on Mohamedou Ould Slahi’s New York Times best-selling memoir Guantánamo Diary, the film sees Rahim taking on the role of Slahi, a Mauritanian who was detained by the U.S. government and found himself languishing in prison for years without charge before finding hope in defense attorney Nancy Hollander (Foster) and her associate Teri Duncan (Woodley). Together, the trio face countless obstacles in their pursuit of justice, and along with evidence uncovered by military prosecutor Lt. Stuart Couch (Cumberbatch), they begin to unravel a far reaching conspiracy.

Prisoner 760 has been scripted by former 60 Minutes producer Michael Bronner, who has previously provided expertise and research for the Paul Greengrass-directed United 93, Green Zone and Captain Phillips. Cumberbatch is producing the film through his SunnyMarch banner, and filming is set to get underway in December ahead of a release next year.
