Ben Affleck’s Batman suit a “total reinvention”

January 21, 2014 by admin

The awards season is all about costumes. Who’s wearing who, how you can’t choose a red dress, etc, etc, etc, BLAH BLAH BLAH.

Entertainment Tonight, however, asked a far more interesting attire-based question to Jennifer Garner (13 Going on 30, Dallas Buyers Club) at the Screen Actors Guild awards: what is her husband’s, Ben Affleck (Gone Girl, Argo), costume like for the upcoming Batman vs Superman? You can watch her answer in the first 20 seconds of the video below, or just read it right here:

“I’ve seen the suit. The suit is unbelievably cool. It’s a total reinvention.”

/Film have pointed out Garner’s words echo those of Affleck’s friend and Batman-enthusiast Kevin Smith (Red State, Clerks III) upon his first viewing of the costume:

I instantly bear hugged him. You have not seen this costume in a movie, on film before. For a comic book fan, it was mind-bending… Because every other movie has done this Matrix-y black armor thing… There wasn’t a single nipple on this ******* suit man… I think everyone is just gonna be like ‘Holy ****!’ It’s its own thing, man. We haven’t been down this path before.

Let’s just try to forget this ever happened.

The Man of Steel sequel, which recently had its production pushed back slightly, will now hit cinemas on May 6th, 2016 – the same date as one of Marvel’s as-yet-unrevealed Phase Three movies. The cast that includes Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Diane Lane as Martha Kent and Lawrence Fishburne as Perry White.
