Mark Ruffalo says he and Chris Hemsworth improvised much of Thor: Ragnarok

November 27, 2019 by Liam Waddington

Actor Mark Ruffalo, who is best known for playing The Hulk/Bruce Banner in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has revealed that he and Thor actor Chris Hemsworth improvised a lot of the script for Thor: Ragnarok, which clearly helped bring director Taika Waititi’s signature comedy to life and usher in the new personalities of Thor and Hulk seen in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.

“We have a lot of fun. Actually, Chris Hemsworth who is here… Chris Hemsworth and I did Thor: Ragnarok together, and we basically improvised the entire script, and we had an amazing time with Taika Waititi, and it was just a lot of fun: we shot in Australia, we played a lot, we made a lot of jokes, and it was a great time,” Ruffalo told Tokyo Comic-Con (via ComicBook).

If Ruffalo is to be believed, one would assume that Waititi could take the same loose approach with the upcoming fourth instalment in the Thor sub-franchise, Thor: Love and Thunder.

The film is set to follow Jane – portrayed by a returning Natalie Portman – who becomes the new Thor after she was deemed worthy to wield Mjolnir.  Thor: Love and Thunder is set for release on 5th November 2021 and will see Chris Hemsworth return as Thor, Tessa Thompson return as Valkyrie, and Waititi will reprise his role as Korg.

Are you looking forward to Thor: Love and Thunder? Do you believe a loose and improvised approach to movies is a good idea? Let us know in the comments below or tweet us @flickeringmyth…
