Straight Outta Compton screenwriter to rewrite Ghost in the Shell adaptation

The long-gestating Hollywood adaptation of Ghost in the Shell has found a new screenwriter, with Straight Outta Compton scribe Jonathan Herman signing on to overhaul the script for DreamWorks’ live-action take on the anime classic.

Based on Masumune Shirow’s manga series, Ghost in the Shell is set to be directed by Rupert Sanders (Snow White and the Huntsman), with Scarlett Johansson (Avengers: Age of Ultron) on board in the lead role as a cybord special ops agent who leads an elite task force on a mission to aprehend a cyber-terrorist known as the Puppet Master.

Ghost in the Shell is set for release on March 31st 2017.
