According to The Daily Mail’s Baz Bamigboye, Jake Gyllenhaal is set to star in a feature film adaptation of the Tony Award-winning musical Fun Home, which he will also produce through his Nine Stories production banner.
Based on American cartoonist Alison Bechdel’s graphic memoir, Fun Home explores Bechdel’s discovery of her own sexuality and her relationship with her gay father, who will be portrayed by Gyllenhaal. Sam Gold is set to direct, having won a Tony Award for directing the stage musical back in 2015.
Gyllenhaal was last seen as Mysterio in Marvel’s Spider-Man: Far From Home, and has a number of projects on his upcoming slate including the long-gestating video game adaptation The Division, crime thriller The Helicopter Heist , psychological thriller Rio , Leonard Bernstein biopic The American and HBO series Lake Success.
