The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Kristen Stewart and Chloe Sevigny are in negotiations to star in an as-yet-untitled thriller based around the case of Lizzy Borden, a Massachusetts woman who was tried and acquitted for the 1892 axe murders of her father and stepmother.
Sevigny is set to portray Borden, while Stewart is in talks to play Bridget Sullivan, the Bordens’ live-in maid and Lizze’s possible lover. The film is being directed by Pieter Van Hees (Waste Land), from a script by Bryce Cass.
There have been several screen adaptations of the Lizzie Borden story, most recently the 2014 TV movie Lizzie Borden Took An Ax starring Christina Ricci, which was followed by the limited series sequel The Lizzie Borden Chronicles.
