Birds of Prey reviews are now live and the film debuted on Rotten Tomatoes with the DCEU’s second-highest score.
DC is certainly finding its footing of late with their movie properties, with the likes of Wonder Woman and Joker steadying the ship after a rocky few years.
The DCEU, in particular, has had its ups and downs but the latest entry, Birds of Prey, sounds like it’s going to be one of the franchise’s better efforts. Reviews for the Harley Quinn centric film are now available and it has debuted on Rotten Tomatoes with the DCEU’s second-best score ever with 92%. This is only behind Wonder Woman‘s 93%.

Birds of Prey has since dipped slightly to 88% with the RT consensus reading “With a fresh perspective, some new friends, and loads of fast-paced action, Birds of Prey captures the colorfully anarchic spirit of Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn.”
It’s Metacritic score, however, sits at a rather tepid 58.

Of course, what matters most is what the fans think and after all, there is often a large disparity between what audiences think and what Rotten Tomatoes has to say.
Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) is a twisted tale told by Harley herself, as only Harley can tell it. When Gotham’s most nefariously narcissistic villain, Roman Sionis, and his zealous right-hand, Zsasz, put a target on a young girl named Cass, the city is turned upside down looking for her. Harley, Huntress, Black Canary and Renee Montoya’s paths collide, and the unlikely foursome have no choice but to team up to take Roman down.
Cathy Yan (Dead Pigs) is directing Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) from a script by Christina Hodson (Bumblebee) with Margot Robbie reprising her Suicide Squad role as Harley Quinn alongside Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Fargo) as The Huntress, Jurnee Smollett-Bell (Underground) as Black Canary, Rosie Perez (Fearless) as Renee Montoya, Ella Jay Basco (Grey’s Anatomy) as Cassandra Cain, Ewan McGregor (Christopher Robin) as Black Mask, Chris Messina (Sharp Objects) as Victor Zsasz, Ali Wong (Black Box), Robert Catrini (Jack Reacher: Never Go Back), Steven Williams (The Chi), Dana Lee (Dr. Ken), Francois Chau (The Expanse) and Matthew Willig (The Ballad of Buster Scruggs). It is set for release on February 7th 2020.
