Deadline is reporting that Samuel L. Jackson has signed on for the lead role in an as-yet-untitled action thriller from directors John Requa and Glenn Ficarra (Whiskey Tango Foxtrot) and screenwriter Matthew Stone (Soul Men).
The film will see Jackson portraying a retired mob hitman called Morris Stokes, who has “more kills under his belt than he can count and has earned his time out of the game. When his nephew, Leslie, makes a stupid mistake, Morris gets a call from his old boss and must negotiate one last job: either help the kid recover the lost money, or put a bullet in him. Morris drags Leslie around town, making him clean up his mess while pontificating on some of life’s lessons along the way.”
The project is being shopped to buyers at the European Film Market, and has John Davis (The Predator) attached to produce.
The ever-busy Jackson has a number of projects incoming this year, including the action comedy sequel The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard, Saw reboot Spiral, and the Apple TV+ feature The Banker.
