During the past week, a deepfake video has gone viral which replaces Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd as Marty McFly and Dr. Emmett Brown in Back to the Future with the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Tom Holland and Robert Downey Jr. respectively.
Despite the online reaction to the viral video, in a recent interview with ET, Holland has expressed he has no interest in being involved in a Back to the Future reboot if it happens in the future because he believes the movie is already “perfect.”
“I would not be interested because that is a perfect movie,” Holland said.
Holland continued to explain that he already feels like he is his generation’s Marty McFly so there’s no need to literally play the iconic role.
“When I first got Spider-Man, my goal was to be my generation’s Marty McFly. When I was on the press tour, a journalist said to me, ‘You realize you’re like Marty McFly in this movie?’ And I was like, ‘[OK!] Done.'”
However, when it comes to the question of will there be more Back to the Future films whether it is a sequel or a reboot, director Robert Zemeckis has been publicly against the idea for years and even stated more movies in the franchise “can’t be done”.
