It looks like The Greatest American Hero is heading back to TV screens, with Deadline revealing that The LEGO Movie directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller are teaming with Dope helmer Rick Famuyiwa for a single-camera comedy remake of the cult 1980s TV series for 20th Century Fox TV.
The project will be written and directed by Famuyiwa, and will explore “what happens when great power is not met with great responsibility. An ordinary man, completely content with being average, wakes up with a superpower suit he never asked for and has to deal with the complications it brings his life.”
Last year, Lord and Miller took a stab at remaking the show along with Tawnia McKiernan, daughter of Greatest American Hero creator Steven J. Cannell, although that pilot failed to get off the ground.
