Lionsgate delays Spiral: From the Book of Saw, Antebellum, and Run

March 18, 2020 by Liam Waddington

With more and more films and television projects been pulled from the release schedule in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, it will come as no surprise that Lionsgate has added three additional titles to the list of delays with Spiral: From the Book of Saw, Antebellum, and Run.

Spiral: From the Book of Saw was originally set to premiere on 15th May 2020, with Antebellum and Run set to release on 24th April 2020 and May 8th 2020, respectively.

According to Deadline, all three of Lionsgate’s horror films will remain undated while the studio evaluates “the next steps, dates and strategies” and once there is more clarity on when theatres will safely and fully resume operations.

Spiral follows Detective Ezekiel “Zeke” Banks (Chris Rock) and his partner (Max Minghella) who are taking charge of investigating grisly murders that are eerily reminiscent of the city’s gruesome past. The film is being directed by Darren Lynn Bousman who is returning to the world of Jigsaw for the 9th instalment having previously directed Saw II, Saw III, and Saw IV with a cast including Chris Rock, Samuel L. Jackson, Max Minghella, and Marisol Nichols.

Antebellum centres around the successful author Veronica Henley (Janelle Monáe) who finds herself trapped in a horrifying reality and must uncover the mind-bending mystery before it’s too late. The film is directed by Gerard Bush and Christopher Renz and features a cast that also includes Marque Richardson II, Eric Lange, Jack Huston, Kiersey Clemons, Tongayi Chirisa, Gabourey Sidibe, Rob Aramayo, Lily Cowles, and Jena Malone.

Run follows Chloe (Keira Allen), a teenager raised in isolation who begins to suspect her mother (Sarah Paulson) is hiding a dark secret. The film is directed and co-written by Searching filmmaker Aneesh Chaganty.
