The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Liam Neeson is set to play Mark Felt, a.k.a. whistleblower Deep Throat, in Peter Landesman’s (Concussion) upcoming Watergate thriller Felt.
The film, which is being described as a spy thriller, will portray Felt – then acting associate director of the FBI at the time of the Watergate scandal – “as someone disheartened that the organization he works for is involved in cover-up but also who is torn apart as he leaks information.”
Neeson has recently completed filming Martin Scorsese’s Silence and J.A. Bayona’s A Monster Calls, and is currently gearing up to play Douglas MacArthur in the Korean War thriller Operation Chromite.
