It has been revealed that Disney+ has passed 50 million global subscribes – a significant milestone for the new platform.
If anyone could enter the hyper-competitive streaming platform space and find immediate success it was Disney. And this is just what they have done with Disney+.
The company has announced that it has passed 50 million global subscribers after just five months on the market and only being released in territories like the UK in March.
Kevin Mayer, Chairman of Walt Disney Direct-to-Consumer & International, commented on the achievement (via ScreenRant): “We’re truly humbled that Disney+ is resonating with millions around the globe, and believe this bodes well for our continued expansion throughout Western Europe and into Japan and all of Latin America later this year. Great storytelling inspires and uplifts, and we are in the fortunate position of being able to deliver a vast array of great entertainment rooted in joy and optimism on Disney+.”
