Yeon Sang-ho, director of the hit Korean zombie thriller Train to Busan and its upcoming follow-up Peninsula, is teaming with Netflix for the original series Hellbound, which is based upon illustrator Choi Gyu-seok’s webtoon Hell.
As revealed by Netflix, the official synopsis for Hellbound reads:
In Hellbound, supernatural beings appear out of nowhere to condemn people to hell. It doesn’t matter whether these events are a blessing or a curse: a new religious group is interpreting them all as the will of the divine. What unfolds through this predicament is an intense and highly-charged story about people who must survive under conditions of utter social chaos.
Hellbound is the second Korean horror-drama ordered by Netflix in recent weeks after the contemporary zombie series All Of Us Are Dead, which is itself based upon a webtoon entitled Now At Our School.
