Dave Filoni, who is best known for his work on Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels, is returning to the directors’ chair for the second season of The Mandalorian but only for a single episode.
In a recent interview with Deadline, Filoni revealed he would only be directing one episode for the coming season of The Mandalorian but praised creator Jon Favreau for his mentorship on the series and for helping him transition from animation to live-action.
“I just did one episode this coming season,” Filoni said. “I’m really excited about it, I wrote it and directed it, so you know, that’ll be a fun thing for me, and I’ve been learning from Jon [Favreau]. He’s a great mentor. You know, to be in that situation in a live-action show with someone like him and a fantastic team of people, it’s a really fortunate place for me to land because you’re with people that can really help you and realize the things that you’re trying to do story-wise.”
While Filoni also serves as an executive producer and writer on The Mandalorian, he directed two episodes in the debut season including the series premiere “The Mandalorian” as well as the fifth episode, “The Gunslinger.”
