It’s refreshing to see an update on the Spawn movie that isn’t from creator Todd McFarlane. Fans of the iconic character have clamored for a new film adaptation, but there’s been minimal movement as of late. That’s all changed now though, says producer Jason Blum, as the long-gestating Spawn movie has seen an “enormous amount of activity.”
Recently speaking with ComicBook.com, the Blumhouse mastermind opened up about Spawn and how active the development of the film has been lately.
“I’m glad you asked. There has been an enormous amount of activity on Spawn,” Blum shares with the site when asked about the project. “No new news that I’m going to reveal here, I’m sorry to tell you, but the title Spawn, I’ve been uttering that word a lot in the last two or three weeks, and we’ll have more news to come. But, suffice it to say, it is a very active development.”
When jokingly asked if it’s just the producer wandering around his home, whispering the name Spawn, Jason Blum gave a light, yet very effective response. Blum opens up by saying, “I wanna make the movie so badly, I wouldn’t put that past myself, and it’s an excellent question, but in this case, I’ve actually been talking to other people about it, but there’s been a seismic event on Spawn.”
It was only recently that Todd McFarlane implied that Jamie Foxx had vacated the title role, so perhaps this “seismic event” relates to casting? Either way, fans of Spawn will likely be overjoyed to see some progress being made in terms of finally getting this project off the ground.
