According to an “insider” report, Warner Bros. doesn’t think that a solo Superman film would be a success right now.
There hasn’t been a solo Superman film for Henry Cavill since Man of Steel in 2013. The character, however, has gone on to lead films such as Batman v Superman and Justice League in the years since.
But why has WB been hesitant to launch another solo outing for Cavill and instead opted for an Aquaman and Wonder Woman sequel? Well, according to an insider at Heroic Hollywood, the studio isn’t confident a Superman film would perform well right now.
The insider’s report says: “A stand-alone Superman movie would not be successful at this time. Perhaps once there’s more momentum after playing a supporting role in some successful DC films, there would be more of a chance for a stand-alone film.”
While this is little more than gossip at this point, there must be some reason why Superman has been relegated to appearing in team-up films since his DC Extended Universe debut in 2013’s Man of Steel.
