Deadline is reporting that 20th Century Fox has snapped up the rights to Amulet, the bestselling graphic novel series from Kazu Kibuishi, and is developing it as a potential feature film franchise.
Published by Scholastic, the Amulet series has sold over 2 million copies worldwide and “follow the story of a young girl named Emily, her younger brother Navin, and their mother Karen as they move to their great-grandfather’s house to start a new life. The house proves to contain a dangerous portal, and after a creature pulls Karen through it, the kids set out to save her in an alternate world inhabited by demons, giant robots, elves and highly intelligent animals.”
The movie adaptation is being produced by Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey of Temple Hill, the production company behind the likes of Twilight, The Maze Runner, The Fault in Our Stars, Paper Towns and the upcoming Mighty Morphin Power Rangers reboot.
