Percy Jackson series creator Rick Riordan and his wife Becky Riordan have given an update on when fans can expect the Disney+ series reboot to air, though it may be a little while longer than some might expect.
Answering fan questions on Twitter, the pair revealed how far along planning for the series is going with Rick Riordan stating given all the work which goes into pre-production, as well as the uncertain times with so many film and television productions still locked down, it may be two years before the Percy Jackson series is ready to premiere on Disney+.

As for specifics in where they are in the writing process, Becky Riordan stated they are currently writing the outline for the pilot before fully scripting it so it is still some time away before they have anything fully prepped to begin production.

The Percy Jackson series follows teenager Percy Jackson after he discovers he is the son of the Greek god Poseidon. The series includes five novels, several supplementary stories, a couple spin-off series and a graphic novel. The first two books were adapted into feature films, Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief and Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters, though due to major deviations from the source material and the second film failing at the box office (as well as Rick Riordan’s outspoken criticism of the films) the film franchise was stopped.
