The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Johnny Knoxville is developing an adaptation of Image Comics’ Hawaiian Dick for NBC, with Paul Lovett and David Elliott (GI Joe: The Rise of the Cobra) set to pen the script, as well as executive producing alongside the Jackass star.
Created by B. Clay Moore and Steven Griffin, Hawaiian Dick “follows a stateside cop, Byrd, who is exiled to Hawaii and becomes immersed in a dark and dangerous paradise.” The TV adaptation is being described as “a one-hour comedic action series that will mix procedural, humor and supernatural elements.”
Knoxville has been keen on Hawaiian Dick for over a decade now, with New Line Cinema optioning the comic back in 2004 as a potential starring vehicle, although the movie never got off the ground.
