Back in March, one of the many projects that had its production schedule affected due to the ongoing global health crisis was the fourth season of Netflix’s Stranger Things, however, the streaming service has now announced that filming has officially started on the new season of the supernatural horror series.
Taking to Twitter, Netflix released a cryptic behind-the-scenes image of the latest season with a clapperboard and a blurred out cryptic picture of a clock along with the caption “meanwhile in the upside down…”

While we don’t know many plot details, we do know the fourth season will address the fate of fan-favourite character Jim Hopper after he was locked up in a Russian prison following his “death” in the season three finale which actor David Harbour recently compared to Gandalf’s resurrection.
Although the latest season has only just resumed filming, Stranger Things creators Matt and Ross Duffer have previously confirmed the sci-fi horror series will continue beyond its upcoming fourth season with the end already mapped out.
“Season four won’t be the end,” said Ross Duffer. “We know what the end is, and we know when it is. [The pandemic] has given us time to look ahead, figure out what is best for the show. Starting to fill that out gave us a better idea of how long we need to tell that story.”
