Back in January, Dwayne Johnson announced that he would be teaming with Nahnatchka Khan (Fresh Off the Boat) and NBC for a half-hour single camera comedy series entitled Young Rock, which will explore the early years of the WWE Superstar turned Hollywood megastar.
Along with Johnson, who will also appear in each episode, the series will feature Adrian Groulx as the “honest, headstrong, impressionable and bold” ten-year-old Dwayne, Bradley Constant as him at fifteen, and Uli Latukefu as an twenty-year-old Johnson playing football for the University of Miami on a scholarship.
Also featuring in the cast of the series will be Stacey Leilua as Johnson’s mother Ata Johnson, Joseph Lee Anderson as his father Rocky Johnson, and Ana Tuisila as his grandmother Lia Maivia.

As per Variety, Young Rock “charts Johnson’s childhood from growing up in a strong and resilient family, to being surrounded by the wild characters of his professional wrestling family, to playing football at the University of Miami. It will explore the rollercoaster that has shaped Johnson into the man he is today and the larger-than-life characters he’s met along the way.”
Young Rock is slated to premiere in 2021.
