This probably won’t come as much of a surprise given that several of the cast members have already spoken about the mayhem and insanity that director James Gunn has planned for Task Force X in The Suicide Squad, but the filmmaker has now officially confirmed on social media that his DC Extended Universe blockbuster will be R-rated.

This fits with earlier comments from Rick Flag actor Joel Kinnaman, who described The Suicide Squad as a “heavily R-rated” comedy, as well as those from John Cena, the Peacemaker actor having called the movie “quite graphic” and warning us to bring a change of pants as it’s “gonna make you shit your pants“.

And speaking of Cena and Peacemaker, it seems the HBO Max spinoff series is also going to retain that R-rated mentality, as Gunn has dismissed a recent rumour suggesting that the show will also air on The CW by stating: “Lol. No. If we edited it for broadcast TV it would be forty seconds long.”
