If you cast your mind back a couple of years, you may recall that it was announced Fox was fast-tracking a feature film adaptation of Spamalot, the hit Broadway and West End musical “lovingly ripped off” from 1975’s Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
The project, scripted Eric Idle, was put on the back burner following Disney’s 20th Century Fox acquisition, but now Deadline brings word that it has found a new home at Paramount Pictures.
Casey Nicholaw is on board to make his feature directorial debut on the film, having choreographed the original Tony Award-winning stage production.
Idle will produce the film with Dan Jinks (American Beauty) and with the script already complete and everything ready to go, the plan is to move straight into the casting stage ahead of a shoot later this year.
