Are you ready to return to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter? Because THR reports that fans of the long-running beloved film and book series will soon see the brand move to the small screen courtesy of HBO Max.
The Hollywood Reporter notes that executives at the WarnerMedia streaming service have reached out to potential writers to tackle this project but as yet no talent have penned deals, and the conversations about the series are still in “the extremely early stages.”
There’s no word either if the controversial author of the series J.K. Rowling will be involved with the project, but she does control the rights to the franchise and as such “has a say in everything involving the property”.
At the time of reporting, HBO Max and Warner Bros. have offered only the following statement in response to THR’s exclusive: “There are no Harry Potter series in development at the studio or on the streaming platform.”
