A long tradition done by the network, The CW has renewed almost their entire slate for the 2021-22 season. This includes a majority of their DC shows, as well as fan-favorite series Riverdale.
The entire line-up of renewals includes the newcomer Walker getting a second season, which also saw five more episodes added to the current season. Batwoman, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, and The Flash for the DC TV side. All American, In the Dark, Legacies, Nancy Drew, Roswell, New Mexico, and Dynasty were picked up for more seasons. And The CW’s long-running show Riverdale returns its sixth season.
The only shows that have not seen renewals are the first-year shows Superman & Lois, Kung Fu, and The Republic of Sarah. However, The CW did add two additional Superman & Lois episodes, bringing its season total to 15.
“Though we’re just a few weeks into the new season, we wanted to get a strategic head start on next season with these early renewals, which allows our production teams to start laying out story arcs and hiring staff, and at the same time, continues to provide us with a strong, stable schedule to build on for next season,” said Mark Pedowitz, The CW Network president.
“As The CW’s 2020-2021 season kicks into high gear, we are thrilled creatively with the direction of our first new shows out of the gate, Walker and Superman & Lois, that we wanted to order the additional episodes to complete their first seasons.” He continues, “and we are particularly pleased with the huge success of the launch of Walker, which debuted as our most-watched series premiere in five years.”
While the collection of shows will come back for another round, two shows will be ending this season: Black Lightning and Supergirl. This follows the recent cancellation of Katy Keene and the conclusions of Arrow, The 100, and Supernatural.
