Few things are as painful for a fan of a long-running television show than cancellation before closure, but that was the fate which befell Ray Donovan when Showtime put a gun to the head of its eighth and final season. However, it appears that Liev Schreiber really is the best fixer in the business, so having told fans “there will be more Ray Donovan”, he is now set to write a feature-length send-off for the show.
Deadline reports that Schreiber will co-write the script with series showrunner David Hollander, who will also direct. Jon Voight is confirmed to return as Donovan’s father Mickey, along with Kerris Dorsey as Ray’s daughter Bridget.
The feature-length installment will pick up where season seven left off, and is scheduled to start filming in New York later this year.
