Deadline is reporting that Doctor Sleep and Good Boys actor Jacob Tremblay has joined the cast of Legendary Entertainment’s upcoming Toxic Avenger reboot.
While details on Tremblay’s character are being kept under wraps, we do know the actor will co-star alongside Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage, who will take on the titular role. Macon Blair will helm this Toxic Avenger reboot for Legendary Entertainment and sees Lloyd Kaufman, the co-director behind the original Toxic Avenger film and producer of all things Troma, returning as the producer.
The Toxic Avenger is described as a “contemporary reimagining” of the original 1984 low-budget action-comedy film, which follows a struggling everyman who falls into a vat of toxic waste, forever transforming him into a mutant freak in the original. This takes our hero from a once shunned outcast to an underdog hero. However, there has been no confirmation whether this new version will follow that origin story.
Tremblay has previously received a SAG nomination for his breakout performance in 2015’s Room, starring opposite Oscar-winner Brie Larson. The actor will next provide his voice for Flounder in Disney’s upcoming live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid as well as voicing the title character in the upcoming Disney/Pixar film Luca.
