With a little over a month to go until the announcement of the Oscar nominations, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences have revealed the shortlist of twenty films vying for a nod in the category of Best Visual Effects at the 88th Academy Awards.

“Chappie”
“Everest”
“Ex Machina”
“Furious Seven”
“The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2”
“In the Heart of the Sea”
“Jupiter Ascending”
“Jurassic World”
“Mad Max: Fury Road”
“The Martian”
“Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation”
“The Revenant”
“Spectre”
“Star Wars: The Force Awakens”
“Terminator Genisys”
“Tomorrowland”
“The Walk”
The above movies will be whittled down to a shortlist of ten for nominations voting later this month, with the final five nominees announced on January 14th. The winner will then be revealed at the 88th Academy Awards on February 28th.
