Netflix cancels The Irregulars after a single season

May 5, 2021 by Liam Waddington

After premiering back in March, Netflix has announced they have cancelled their original series, The Irregulars, which is based on the works of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, after a single season.

Deadline first reported that Netflix wouldn’t be continuing the detective drama with a second season, however, there was no specific reason for the sudden cancellation from the streaming service. This news comes despite the series landing in Netflix’s top 10 list as well as beating Marvel’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier in Nielsen’s weekly U.S. streaming charts at the end of April.

Set in Victorian London, the series follows a gang of troubled street teens who are manipulated into solving crimes for the sinister Doctor Watson and his mysterious business partner, the elusive Sherlock Holmes. As the crimes take on a horrifying supernatural edge and a dark power emerges, it’ll be up to the Irregulars to come together to save not only London but the entire world.

The Irregulars features a cast that includes Thaddea Graham (Us) as Bea; Darci Shaw (Judy) as Jessie; Jojo Macari (Sex Education) as Billy; Mckell David (Damilola Our Loved Boy) as Spike; Harrison Osterfield (Catch 22) as Leopold; Henry Lloyd-Hughes (Killing Eve) as Sherlock Holmes; Royce Pierreson (The Witcher) as John Watson and Clarke Peters (His Dark Materials) as The Linen Man.
