Bong Joon-ho is one of the busiest filmmakers working these days. Not only is he working on two feature films, one Korean and one in English, but he’s also trying something entirely new as well as the Oscar-winning filmmaker is taking his keen eye for cinema to the world of animation.
Bong will direct a Korean animation with the production company 4th Creative Party, which has worked on visual effects for his previous films The Host, Snowpiercer, and Okja.
As per the Korean outlet Naver, this will be a fully CGI animation project and will take viewers into deep-sea adventures featuring humans and creatures. The film is said to “follow an invertebrate deep-sea fish who believes he’s suffering from spinal disk herniation.”
This film is reportedly something that the filmmaker has been working on since 2018. Reports say that Joon-ho has also tapped an actor for the leading voice role, but no name has surfaced at reporting.
Bong Joon-ho’s last film, Parasite, took home the Oscar for Best Picture, Best International Film, Best Original Screenplay, and the filmmaker walked away with a win for Best Director as well. He’s currently serving as the executive producer on the planned Parasite TV series for HBO Max.
